Spanish spelling and accenting
errors:
Alfonsina’s, Agua Verde, Alarcón, C. Mendocino, Caballo,
Calmallí, Comandante, Conchó, El Infierno, Esmeralda,
Espíritu, Guerrero, Lancha, Los Vagabundos del Mar, Matanchel,
Mar del Sur, Mazatlán, Mendocino, Molino, Pangueros, Pichilingüe,
Sanctotis, Santa Agueda, Santa Eugenia, Sinaloan, Tenochtitlán,
Villavicencio.
Second opinions:
Cabrillo: Some American historians now believe that Cabrillo was
more likely Spanish than the often cited Portuguese. P 137
Cortés’ La Paz encampment site: The center of the
city, marked by the IMSS hospital, may have been the site because
of a better water source than at Pichilingüe. Vizcaíno
encamped on the Cortés site. Pichilingüe provided a
much deeper, safer, and more accessible anchorage. Both sites have
advocates. P 110
Vizcaíno and the Santa Ana: Wagner cites a letter indicating
Vizcaíno was aboard and submits chronology to prove that
it was possible. Mathes, a more current historian, claims the letter
to be false and cites chronology to prove Vizcaíno could
not have been on the ship. P 139
The submarine H-1 probably was salvaged, perhaps secretly, for
her brass scrap content during the 1940s according to Torrance
Parker a San Pedro commercial diver. Rumors of her being found/
not found, in 1992 may have been created by several an unsuccessful
searches that year by several ventures including one made by Peter
Jensen, Baja California shipwreck expert. P 180

The San José took refuge in Puerto Escondido

The Principe arrived at San Diego 18 days earlier than the San
Carlos not 25 days as written. P 116
The Ohio is a ship-of-the-line not a sloop. P 121
“alandra” should be “balandra”. “1762” should

The Pride of Baltimore is a replica of a War of 1812 privateer
